This article explains how managers can review and approve employee timecards in Shiftlab. Approvals ensure accurate payroll and confirm that punch data aligns with scheduled shifts.
When to Use This
At the end of a pay period to finalize employee hours
To approve employee timecards after any required corrections
To confirm that punch data matches scheduled hours
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Access the Timecard
Click the clock icon to open the Timeclock sidebar.
Select Timecard at the bottom of the sidebar.
The timecard hub displays all employee hours, approvals, and payroll extract options.
2. Select a Timecard Date Range
Use the date range selector at the top left to choose the period to review.
Optionally, search for a specific employee in the search bar.
Filter by status: All, Unapproved, or Approved.
Click Run to display the timecards for the selected criteria.
3. Identify Timecard Issues
Issues appear in red:
Date highlighted: Employee has punch data but was not scheduled.
Time in/out highlighted: Punch data differs from scheduled hours (late clock-in, early clock-out, etc.).
Hover over the calendar icon to view details of the issue.
Decide whether to edit the entry or approve it.
4. Approve Timecard Entries
After any corrections, click the green check mark next to the line to approve the entry.
Repeat for all errors on the employee’s timecard.
Once all entries are approved, click the check mark at the top right of the employee’s timecard to approve the entire card.
Continue this process for all employees requiring approval.
