Manager Editing a Timecard

Overview

This article explains how managers can edit employee timecard entries in Shiftlab. Editing ensures accurate hours, breaks, and punch data before approval.

When to Use This

  • When a punch is missing or incorrect

  • To adjust clock-in/out or break times

  • To resolve timecard issues before approval

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Timecard for Editing

  1. Access Timecard via the Timeclock sidebar.

  2. Select the appropriate date range and employee.

2. Edit a Timecard Entry

  1. Click the yellow pencil icon next to the date to adjust.

  2. A pop-up will display:

    • Employee name

    • Date

    • Time in/out

    • Break start/end times

  3. Adjust times as needed.

Notes:

  • Red pencil icon: The entry requires editing before approval.

  • Auto-clock-out issues may prompt the employee to correct the punch on their next shift. Once corrected, the timecard issue resolves automatically.

3. Save Changes

  1. Click Save Changes after making edits to ensure the timecard is updated.

Key Details & Definitions

  • Yellow Pencil Icon: Used to edit a specific timecard entry.

  • Red Pencil Icon: Indicates a required edit before approval.

  • Auto-Clock Out: Missing punch from a previous shift that employees must correct.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

I cannot edit a timecard entry.

Ensure your account has the required permissions.

Employee still shows an error after editing.

Confirm the punch times are correct and saved.
