Reading the Schedule Chart with Projections

Updated over a week ago

Overview

This article explains how to read the Schedule Chart with Projections in Shiftlab. The chart displays projected performance based on forecasted KPIs compared to the labor hours you have scheduled. This helps ensure your staffing aligns with expected store performance.

When to Use This

Use the Schedule Chart when:

  • Building or adjusting a daily or hourly schedule.

  • Comparing planned labor to projected sales or KPI performance.

  • Ensuring staffing levels match expected historical patterns.

  • Reviewing whether your schedule supports the forecasted workload.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Locate the Schedule Chart

  1. Scroll to the bottom of your schedule in Shiftlab.

  2. Locate the visual chart displaying projection lines.

2. Understand the Forecast Line (Green)

  1. Identify the Green Line, which represents the Shiftlab forecast for your selected KPI.

  2. Use this line to understand projected performance for each hour or day.

3. Understand the Planned Labor Line (Yellow)

  1. Identify the Yellow Line, which represents the labor you have scheduled.

  2. Compare the Yellow Line to the Green Line to evaluate whether staffing meets forecasted expectations.

4. Compare Forecast vs. Scheduled Labor

  1. Look for alignment between the two lines:

    • When the Yellow Line is close to the Green Line, staffing generally matches forecasted needs.

    • Large gaps may indicate overstaffing or understaffing.

  2. Adjust your schedule as needed to better support expected performance.
