Overview
This article explains how to complete the three core uploads required during initial Shiftlab setup. These uploads define store domains for IP-based clock-ins, standard store hours, and special store hours for holidays or exceptions.

When to Use This
Use uploads when:
You are completing first-time system setup.
You want employees to clock in using approved IP addresses.
You need to define standard operating hours for each store.
You must enter holiday hours or other exceptions to regular schedules.
Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Configure Store Domains (IP-Based Clock-Ins)
After processing, employees can clock in and out from the listed IP addresses when connected to the correct network.
Select Download Sample File in the Store Domains section.
Open the downloaded file.
The file includes:Column A: Store name or location identifier.
Column B: FQDN (used only if your organization uses dynamic IP addresses).
Column C: Static IP address (used when IP addresses do not change).
Enter the IP address or FQDN for each store as needed.
Save the completed file.
Return to Shiftlab and select Import File.
Upload your saved file.
2. Upload Store Hours Configuration
Select Download Sample File in the Store Hours section.
Open the file.
The file lists all store locations with blank weekday fields.Enter operating hours for Monday–Sunday in the required time format.
Save the file.
Return to Shiftlab and select Import File to upload the completed store hours.
3. Upload Special Store Hours
Select Download Sample File in the Special Store Hours section.
Open the file.
This file is used to enter holiday hours, early closures, late openings, or other exceptions.For each store, enter the date and the special operating hours.
Example uses include:Christmas Eve reduced hours
Christmas Day closures
Seasonal events
Save the file.
Return to Shiftlab and select Import File to upload the special hours.
Key Details & Definitions
Store Domains: A configuration that restricts clock-ins to approved IP addresses or FQDNs.
FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name): A domain-based method for validating clock-ins when using dynamic IPs.
Static IP Address: A fixed IP that stays the same; commonly used for IP-based clock-ins.
Store Hours Configuration: The standard weekly operating hours used for scheduling.
Special Store Hours: One-off or seasonal exceptions to normal hours used for scheduling and automation.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Import failed or produced errors.
Check the file format, column structure, and time formatting. Ensure no fields are left in an invalid format.
Employees cannot clock in using the network.
Confirm the correct IP address or FQDN is entered and that the file was successfully imported.
Store hours are not displaying correctly.
Verify that hours were entered in the required time format and reimport the file.
Special hours are outdated or incorrect.
Download the latest file, update the relevant rows, and reimport. The system always uses the most recent upload.
