This article explains how employees can clock in and out using Shiftlab Timeclock. Instructions cover both fingerprint and non-fingerprint methods and include procedures for shift start, break periods, and end-of-shift punch-outs.
When to Use This
At the beginning of a shift to start tracking work hours
Before and after breaks
At the end of a shift to record total hours worked
When using the authorized timeclock device in the store
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Access the Timeclock
Ensure the authorized device is signed in by your Store Manager.
Open the Timeclock by clicking the clock icon on the right-hand side of the page.
2. Clocking In with Fingerprint Scanners
When prompted, scan your registered finger.
Your profile will appear. Confirm you are within 15 minutes of your scheduled shift start.
Click Start Shift to clock in.
After clocking in, click Sign Out to leave the Timeclock ready for the next user.
3. Clocking In without Fingerprint Scanners
Use the search bar to locate your name.
Click your name to open your profile.
Click Start Shift to clock in.
Click Sign Out when finished to leave the Timeclock ready for the next user.
4. Clocking In/Out for Breaks
Repeat the clock-in steps above to access your profile.
Select Start Break to begin your break.
When returning from break, select End Break to resume your shift.
Sign out after each punch.
5. Clocking Out at the End of Shift
Repeat the clock-in steps.
For fingerprint users, scan your finger; for non-fingerprint users, search for your name.
Click End Shift to record the completion of your workday.
Always click Sign Out after clocking out.

Timeclock Device: Authorized device set up by the store to record employee hours.
Start Shift / End Shift: Buttons to record the beginning and end of a work shift.
Start Break / End Break: Buttons to log break periods separately from work hours.
Sign Out: Required after each punch to reset the device for the next employee.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
I cannot find my profile on the Timeclock.
Check with your Store Manager to ensure your name is registered in the system.
The fingerprint scanner does not recognize me.
Ensure you are using the registered finger. If problems persist, contact your Store Manager for assistance.
I forgot to clock in or out.
Report any missed punches to your Store Manager to adjust your recorded hours.
Can I clock in outside my scheduled time?
You may only clock in within 15 minutes before your scheduled shift start.
